Wellness Motivation (updated July, 2023)

Are you motivated for wellness?

According to positive psychology, motivation reflects something unique about each one of us and allows us to gain valued outcomes like improved performance, enhanced wellbeing, personal growth, or a sense of purpose. Motivation is a pathway to change our way of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The benefits of motivation are visible in how we live our lives. As we are constantly responding to changes in our environment, we need motivation to take corrective action in the face of fluctuating circumstances. Motivation is a vital resource that allows us to adapt, function productively, and maintain wellbeing in the face of a constantly changing stream of opportunities and threats.

Motivation is a force that drives an individual’s willingness for behavior modification for wellness improvement. Each individual is accountable for his/her wellness.

Wellbeing begins with health. This formula is very simple and meaningful -

Health = “1” and Wealth = endless of “0”s after it, as $1,000,000,000……

In good health, you should be able to work and build your wealth without limit. However, without health, when the “1” is lost, then all the “0”s becomes worthless.

Hope you are motivated in enhancing healthy life style with best effort. Health knowledge and health behaviors are learned and nurtured. Don't take good health for granted; you may run out of luck.

Regardless what health condition or body shape you have now, today is a good time to start making changes for a better and healthier life.

Health starts with basics – food, water, and rest. Furthermore, well-being is a holistic integration of human psycho-social-physical health. When human’s physical needs are satisfied, quality social life and meaningful relationships further improve health with positive momentum. Gratitude, empathy, compassion, and willingness to help others will enhance your own well-being.

To start and stay motivated, just set a small goal and taking actions will enhance motivation. Keep learning and knowing where you want to be and why. Start a health diary on your calendar and keep tracking goal oriented daily activities –

QLF score (the perfect score will be10 points/day)

Try to improve and keep your score above 5 and continue to improve.  You will feel happy and energetic for days to come.

If you would like to keep fitness on track, technology can help.  A variety of wireless activities tracing technologies are available. These devises may feature tracking for workouts, heart rate, distance/floors, calories burned, active minutes and steps; monitor sleep/wake; and report daily tracking/statistics. Technology tools may help, but you are accountable to achieve your fitness goals, whether training for Olympic Games, or just being reminded to get up and move more, whichever you commit.

Keep in mind consistency is essential for results. As behavior change takes time, you will find the process is also enjoyable, such as nature walk experience, de-stress, renewed energy, and positive emotions. It only takes 21 days to form a new habit, according to science. Reward yourself and celebrate each day’s accomplishments on your marathon life journey with self-confidence.
